PROJECTS-GREEN MOUNTAIN RUG HOOKING GUILD-TEA’

8 06 2015

GREETINGS

After a beautiful weekend we are getting a few needed sprinkles this morning.  Tomorrow more showers.

PROJECTS

I have many unfinished projects and some i really want to get done before the end of the month.  I have piled them on the dining table and will try to pick one and finish it! The flag hooked rug was done 20 years ago and has been floating around.  I wanted to get it hung but just couldn’t decide how to do it and where to put it.  I figured it out and yesterday got it hung in an area where it wouldn’t get direct sunlight.  I love where it is and the spot needed a little color to it.

GREEN MOUNTAIN RUG HOOKING GUILD

Saturday the hooking guild had a meeting close to here.  Usually Deb and I have to drive a couple of hours  but Saturday it was in Brattleboro, Vermont less than a half hour from here.  I haven’t been to anything in almost 2 years,   It was good to see people and their projects.  Deb helped me get me going on the small punch needle and I will be doing more of that now.

MY FAVORITE PLANT CATALOG

IMG_4704

If you haven’t been to Andrew’s Greenhouse you are missing a real treat.  Lots of bedding plants, herbs and roses, plus vines.  I will make one of a few trips down to SOuth Amherst in mid April.  its a family owned business and they are very knowledgeable about all aspects of buying growing and harvesting your plants.  Get a catalog I have already picked out a few items including curry plants, and I want to get at least one more Bay Tree. The one I bought from them several years ago is doing great but I plan on freezing more soup mixes this coming summer so I will need at least one more plant.

After the holidays I put this squirrel feeder up and filled it with corn cobs.   He finally found it and has been having a great time. We don’t have many squirrels around so it so much fun to watch him.

TEA SPELLACY MAKES HER 1000 POINTS LAST NIGHT-HAZEL UPDATE

16 12 2014

GREETINGS

TEA' IS IN THE MIDDLE

TEA’ IS IN THE MIDDLE

Making 1000 points is quite a feat and only three girls have done it.

IMG_4218

Last night was a glorious night for our family and for the school.  Tea’ scored early in last nights game and the game was stopped.  Two banners were dropped, many pictures were taken and friends aNd family cheered.  She will continue on at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. next fall.  Yea Tea’.

My Dad would have been so proud of Tea’ as he loved basketball and played many games at the Holyoke YMCA.

HAZEL

Hazel is doing a little better.

IMG_4220

He is getting treatments twice a day and plenty of thyme and basil in his diet.   He hates  the treatments which are really nothing more than putting some VET RX on his nose and under his wings  and he is still quite feisty!

We will be getting some sprinkles today and it will be in the 40’s.  Rain overnight and good for a few days.  This gives me a wonderful chance to clean out the chicken areas and the barn.

Many thanks for reading my blog today and I hope your day is wonderful.  Carole

FOUND PICTURES-SETTING UP THE DISPLAY AT THE NEW SHOP-THE GAME AT UMASS

13 06 2013

Hello

FOUND PICTURES

About 6 months ago The Grandma Moses picture which had been in my childhood home and now in mine fell and broke.  I set it aside till after the holidays.

IMG_0575

When I took it apart I found these two wonderful picture inside.  Now the frame was an old family heirloom to begin with so I really have no idea how old these pictures are.  The boy picture is very fraigle and has some torn pieces.  The Lion picture stood the test of time better.  I got a frame for the Boy picture yesterday and feel better now that its framed.  Soon I will get a frame for the Lion.  I am sure these pictures were hanging in a relatives house many years ago.  They must have treasured them to have saved them.             IMG_0574

Heavy rains again today.  Its staying out of the top of the barn but pouring through the bottom.  Luckily the hen houses are up from the floor.  There is flooding everywhere.

The UMass Game

Yesterday were the final for the Western Mass Softball  teams.  Besides being a great basketball player my Grand-daughter Tea plays softball very well.  There was a brisk wind and that changes everything in soft ball.  They didn’t win the championship but came in second.  There is no shame in that.  They played a good game.

The New Shop

Today I brought things to the new shop.  Its just as cute inside as it is outside.  I think it will be a great success for Christa and I think I will do well there too.  Turners Falls is and up and coming town, with plenty of cute shops, good places to eat and entertainment.

MORE SNOW COMING-TEA’S GAME-RICKY AND CHRIS

22 02 2013

Hello,

More snow is coming.  Six to eight inches of wet snow tomorrow into tomorrow night, clearing out sometime Sunday.  Today we saw a lot of people in the woods setting up tubing for making maple syrup.  When I was doing it I usually started the end of February.  There were times in late January when we would have a good thaw and could get going then.  I will be glad to start doing syrup again in 2014.  No more hauling buckets all tubing now.

Now I will have to figure out what to do with these syrup pails.  I have already used some as trash cans.

Tea’s Game.

The boys and I went to the game on Wednesday night.  It was another good game against some good players, but in the end Belchertown won again.  They are going to be in the finals.  Tea scored 12 points in the game.

Chris and Ricky

They have been here since Monday and we have gotten a lot accomplished.  I have my first item on ETSY and still working making the farm page inviting.  Ricky finished painting my diningroom and Chris has been cleaning the barn.  Today we will do more computer work and barn cleaning and hopefully some inventory.  I hope to get the cat toys on etsy and maybe one more item.

DOGGY

We had to stop by the vets to pick up Sammy’s medication and one of the animals that lives there loves Chris.  This dog is the greeter for the clinic and only has three legs.  He is a  happy dog and is unaware of his disability.

Pine Hill Orchard is now selling things from the Crafts of Colrain so today I brought up some Herbal Salve.  I will slowly be bringing items there.  This is ski season up north and many skiers hit Pine Hill on their way home.

MARLEY

Marley is enjoying the sun from the upper barn window.

Many thanks for reading my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day.                 Carole
